SUGARING
WHAT IS SUGARING?
Sugaring is a natural way to remove hair using a sticky paste made from sugar, water, lemon & a smidge of colour. It's applied to the skin, against the direction of growth and then quickly removed, in the direction of growth, minimising discomfort & damage to the healthy skin, taking unwanted hair with it.
DOES SUGARING HURT?
Everyone's pain tolerance is different, but many find sugaring less painful than waxing. The paste sticks to the hair, not the skin, which can make it more comfortable. It also because more comfortable after the 1st couple of removals.
HOW LONG DOES HAIR NEED TO BE FOR SUGARING?
For the best results, hair should be at least 5mm long. This allows the paste to grip the hair properly and remove efficiently.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
After sugaring, you can expect smooth skin for about 2 to 6 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows. With regular treatments, hair may grow back finer and slower.
IS SUGARING SAFE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN?
Yes, sugaring uses natural ingredients and is generally gentle on all skin types, including sensitive skin. No chemicals here!
CAN I SUGAR AT HOME?
Yes absolutely, it’s exactly what It’s Sugar! is trying to achieve. An at home, chemical-free hair removal method, with minimal irritation, that’s a little fun.
WHAT AREAS CAN BE SUGARED?
Sugaring can be done on almost any part of the body, including legs, arms, underarms, face, bikini area - pretty much everywhere.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE SUGARING?
Gently exfoliate the area you plan to sugar, to remove dead skin cells. Avoid applying lotions or oils on that day, as the paste adheres better to clean, dry skin. Take a warm shower just beforehand.
WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER SUGARING?
After sugaring, keep the area clean and avoid excessive heat, like hot baths or saunas, for 24 to 48 hours. Wearing loose comfortable clothing can also help prevent irritation. Use our Aloe Moisturiser everyday after a warm shower.
HOW DOES SUGARING AFFECT INGROWN HAIRS?
Sugaring removes hair in the natural direction of growth, which can reduce the occurrence of ingrown hairs compared to other hair removal methods.
DOES SUGARING WORK ON THICK OR COARSE HAIR?
Yes, sugaring works well on all hair types, including thick or coarse hair. With regular use, hair can grow back finer and less dense.
IS SUGARING SAFE FOR TEENS WITH ACNE OR HORMONAL SKIN CHANGES?
Absolutely! Our products are formulated with natural, gentle ingredients that are safe for young and sensitive skin. Teens can use them with confidence! It’s gentle, non-comedogenic (it means it has been designed to not clog pores) Avoid sugaring directly over active acne breakouts to prevent irritation.
CAN SUGARING BE USED FOR FACIAL HAIR?
Yes, sugaring is safe for delicate facial skin, including eyebrows, upper lip, and sideburns. It’s less likely to cause irritation than waxing or shaving.
IS SUGARING SAFE IF I HAVE ALLERGIES?
Sugaring uses only sugar, water, lemon juice & a touch of colour —ingredients that rarely cause allergies. If you’re at all concerned, definitely do a patch test first.
WHAT’S THE YOUNGEST AGE TO START SUGARING?
Teens/Tweens can start sugaring with parental consent, as soon as body hair starts to grow. It’s a safe and gentle option for young, sensitive skin.
I’M LEFT HANDED, WILL I FIND SUGARING MORE DIFFICULT? CAN I STILL USE THE APPLICATOR?
Yes you will be able to use the spatula and learn to sugar just as easily as a non left handed person.

WHAT’S THE PURPOSE OF THE SUGAR CALM DUST POWDER IN THE SUGARING KIT?
Our pre- and post-sugaring powder contains arrowroot powder, kaolin clay, oat flour, bamboo powder and zinc oxide. These natural ingredients calm your skin, absorb moisture, and reduce irritation for smoother results.
WHAT MAKES THE FOAM CLEANSER SPECIAL?
The Foam Cleanser is gentle and effective, designed to remove impurities without stripping moisture. It’s packed with soothing aloe vera, hydrating vegetable glycerin, a mild foaming agent and cucumber for sensitive skin.
WHAT’S IN THE SUGAR PASTE?
Our sugar paste is water-soluble, biodegradable, and made with simple, natural ingredients that are safe for all skin types. It’s available in fun pink and blue colours to make hair removal more enjoyable.
WHY DO YOU OFFER REUSABLE STRIPS AND APPLICATORS?
Sustainability is at the heart of It’s Sugar! Reusable strips and applicators help reduce waste while making your sugaring experience more eco-friendly. Just wash them after use, and they’re ready to go again.
CAN I USE THE SUGAR PASTE WITHOUT STRIPS OR AN APPLICATOR?
Yes, our sugar paste can also be applied by hand! If you decide to try this, there is no need to heat it. It’s flexible and easy to work with, so you can choose the method that works best for you.
IS THE MOISTURISER SUITABLE FOR ACNE-PRONE SKIN?
Yes. Our light hydrating moisturiser was designed for sensitive & acne prone skin. It contains aloe vera and sunflower oil to soothe and hydrate without clogging pores.
ARE THE PRODUCTS SAFE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES?

CAN I USE THE CLEANSER EVERY DAY?
Yes, the Foam Cleanser is gentle enough for daily use. It’s perfect for keeping your skin clean and fresh between sugaring sessions. It doesn’t strip your skin’s moisture so can be used on your body and face.
HOW DO I CLEAN THE REUSABLE STRIPS, APPLICATORS OR ANY SPILLAGES OF SUGAR PASTE?
Simply clean up any sugar spills using a clean cloth, warm water and a little washing up liquid. The paste is water soluble so you can either soak your strips and then rinse them or just run them under warm water and the paste will melt away. They air dry in no time and are ready for the next use.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ALOE VERA GEL IN YOUR PRODUCTS?
Aloe Vera Gel hydrates and soothes the skin, making it ideal for calming any redness or irritation post-sugaring. It’s included in both our moisturiser and foam cleanser.
WHAT DOES THE MOISTURISER DO?
Our moisturiser is lightweight and perfect for sensitive or acne-prone skin. It hydrates, soothes, and locks in moisture without feeling heavy or greasy.
SHIPPING & DELIVERY
WHEN WILL MY ORDER SHIP?
Orders are packaged and prepared for delivery within 1 business day of being placed, if placed before 1pm. Exceptions may occur during holiday seasons. You will receive email notifications as your order is prepared and shipped.
HOW MUCH IS DELIVERY?
Delivery costs £4.25 however big your order is. We know how annoying expensive delivery costs are and we will always try to make the costs reasonable. We use Yodel as our delivery courier.
WHAT IS YOUR REFUND & RETURN POLICY?
Unopened & Unused Products: May be returned within 28 days of purchase with proof of purchase, for a full refund or exchange. Please get in touch with us by email help@its-sugar.com to request a return and provide further information. Once we have received the returned item, your refund will be confirmed by email, and funds will be returned to your original payment method.

DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?
We currently, only ship within the UK and do not offer international shipping, as an option at checkout. If you are outside of the UK and would like to place an order please contact us by email help@its-sugar.com and we will check postage costs and do what we can to help.

IS SUGARING BETTER THAN SHAVING?
Sugaring removes hair from the root, so results last longer (up to 6 weeks) compared to shaving, which only cuts hair at the surface. Sugaring also avoids razor burn and cuts, which can be common with shaving. Environmentally sugaring is far better for the planet.
IS SUGARING BETTER THAN HAIR REMOVAL CREAMS?
Yes! Sugaring is chemical-free, so it’s less likely to irritate sensitive skin compared to hair removal creams, which use strong chemicals to dissolve hair. Sugaring is also eco-friendly, safe for the planet and the results last longer.
HOW DOES SUGARING COMPARE TO LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Sugaring is less expensive, chemical-free, and works on all skin tones and hair colours. Laser hair removal requires multiple sessions, is more costly, and isn’t effective on very light or fine hair. Sugaring also doesn’t carry the risk of burns or pigment changes.

ARE THE PRODUCTS SAFE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES?

CAN I SUGAR IF I HAVE KERATOSIS PILARIS (KP)?
Yes, sugaring can help exfoliate the skin and may improve the appearance of KP over time by removing dead skin cells and hair. It’s a gentler alternative to shaving.
DOES SUGARING LIGHTEN FRECKLES OR CHANGE SKIN TONE?
Sugaring exfoliates dead skin cells, which can make your skin appear brighter, but it doesn't lighten freckles or alter your natural skin tone.
IS SUGARING SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE WITH SKIN CONDITIONS LIKE ECZEMA OR PSORIASIS?
Sugaring is generally gentle and can be suitable for individuals with certain skin conditions. These conditions vary in severity from person to person though so we advise that it's important to consult with a Doctor.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY SKIN AFTER SUGARING?
We recommend you use your It’s Sugar! Moisturiser for the 1st few days after sugaring or your Powder, if it’s needed in the more sensitive areas. To ensure your skin stays healthy and to help avoid ingrown hairs it’s important to exfoliate frequently and moisturise. Exfoliants remove the dead skin cells, unblocking follicles resulting in happier, smoother skin and helps the fight against ingrown hairs.
WHY HAVE A COUPLE OF RANDOM HAIRS APPEARED, WHEN I ONLY SUGARED A WEEK AGO?
Hair grows in cycles, so there are some hairs are in the resting stage (Telogen), while others are in the growth stage (Anagen). When you sugar, you remove visible hairs from the root, but hairs in the early Anagen stage are still growing beneath the skin. As they continue to grow, they will naturally appear on your smooth, sugared skin over time.
WHY DO I HAVE A BRUISE AFTER I’VE SUGARED?
If the skin wasn’t stretched enough when the paste was removed or if you were using a strip and you didn’t remove it parallel to the skin it can result in a bruise where the skin is a little damaged. Practice will reduce bruising.
WHY ARE THERE STILL A COUPLE OF HAIRS LEFT AFTER THE 1ST SUGAR PULL USING THE SPATULA OR STRIP?
Hair grows in different directions and you will need to apply the 2nd sugar pull in a slightly diagonal direction to capture any initially remaining stray hairs. If 1 random hair still resists, use a small piece of sugar paste on the end of the spatula or with your finger and cover the hair, massaging it in all directions and then remove in the direction of growth.

IS SUGARING BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT THAN WAXING OR SHAVING?
Absolutely! Sugaring paste is biodegradable (it means that the material naturally breaks down) and its made from natural ingredients, while many waxes contain synthetic resins. Sugaring also produces less waste compared to disposable razors and plastic-heavy shaving products. It’s water soluble too so can easily be cleaned up or washed away.
ARE THE INGREDIENTS VEGAN AND CRUELTY-FREE?
Absolutely! All It’s Sugar! products are vegan, cruelty-free, and made with organic ingredients. For us it was essential for our products to be made to meet the strict criteria of multiple authoritative associations. Our products are registered with The Vegan Society, Ethy Sustainable Standards & Leaping Bunny.
WHY ARE YOUR PRODUCTS IN PLASTIC CONTAINERS?
Our vision was refillable sugar paste containers but without creating a huge carbon footprint, it wasn’t possible to obtain the size we need. Glass was also considered but it uses a much higher amount of energy to create glass jars, it’s more expensive to ship them, theres the possibility of breakages and we want the price of our products to be affordable for all. Our plastic containers are all PET1 and are fully recyclable at home. Our commitment to sustainability ensures our products are as kind to the planet as they are to your skin and we will continually look at ways to go further.
HOW MANY TIMES CAN I USE THE STRIPS OR SPATULA?
The reusable strips and applicators can be used, washed in warm water, air dried and used over and over. There may be slight staining on the strips but this does not affect their usability. Strips can also be cut if required.
