How Our ETHY Verification Aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals

How Our ETHY Verification Aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals

At It’s Sugar! self care and sustainability go hand in hand

From the start, our mission has been simple: to transform hair removal into a ritual that’s kinder to your skin and the planet. So when we earned our ETHY verification, it felt like a natural next step in our journey towards a more ethical, transparent beauty industry.

What ETHY Verification Means

ETHY helps conscious consumers find brands that meet high ethical and environmental standards. Being verified means our products and practices have been independently reviewed and recognised for their sustainability. It’s your assurance that every sugaring kit you buy supports a cleaner, fairer future.

Connecting to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The UN’s SDGs are a global call to action for a better world, and we’re proud that our work contributes to several of them:

  • SDG 14: Life Below Water

Ocean health is under pressure from plastic waste and chemical pollution. Our products are 100% water-safe and biodegradable, meaning no harmful microplastics or residues wash into rivers or seas. Each time you sugar, you’re helping protect marine life.

  • SDG 13: Climate Action

Most beauty products travel thousands of miles before hitting the shelf. Ours don’t. By manufacturing in the UK and sourcing responsibly, we keep our carbon footprint low — helping tackle climate change one sugar cube at a time.

  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Every sugar sesh is a win for the planet. Our kits are low waste. By swapping disposable razors, chemical creams, and wax strips for a fully water soluble paste, you’re reducing everyday beauty waste.

  • 🚫 No plastic razors in landfill.

  • 🚫 No chemical tubes in bins.

  • ✅ Just sugar, lemon, and water — back to nature.

  • SDG 15: Life on Land

Vegan and cruelty-free skincare, is more than a label to us — it’s a commitment. With The Vegan Society certification and pending Leaping Bunny approval, we reduce demand for animal-derived ingredients and protect biodiversity. Helping protect Life on Land.

  • SDG 5: Gender Equality

Hair removal has always been loaded with pressure — especially for young women. But at It’s Sugar!, we say: body hair is a choice, not a chore.

We’re here to give you options, not rules. Whether you sugar or not, it’s your call.

  • No shame.
  • No pressure
  • Just smooth skin if you want it.

  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Change doesn’t happen alone. We’re proud to be Vegan Society certified, ETHY verified, and soon Leaping Bunny approved. By teaming up with global and UK-based organisations, we’re proving that small student-friendly brands can have a big voice in sustainability.

  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being

Razor burn? Chemical burns? Wax strip trauma? We said no thanks. Our products are designed to be gentle on sensitive skin (teen and student skin especially), so you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for smoothness.

  • Natural ingredients (sugar, lemon, water, glycerin, smidge of colour).
  • No parabens, no sulphates, no nasties.
  • Skin confidence without irritation.

SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth

We manufacture in the UK, which means every jar of sugar paste supports local jobs, fair wages, and safe working standards. SDG 8.5 is all about decent work for all — and we’re proud to do our bit by keeping production ethical and close to home.

  • SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities

Representation matters. Through our Female-Led ecolabel from ETHY, we’re showing that leadership diversity isn’t optional — it’s essential. This recognition

ties directly to SDG 10, proving inclusivity can (and should) shine in the beauty industry.

Why It Matters

Sustainability isn’t a trend for us, it’s a promise. ETHY verification means we’re holding ourselves accountable and inviting you to join us in making beauty more responsible. When you sugar, you’re not just looking after your skin — you’re linking up with a bigger mission. From reducing waste to protecting oceans, boosting equality, and supporting local jobs, every smooth sesh is part of something global. Together, we can transform self care into a force for good.

Every time you choose a kinder product, you’re helping create a more sustainable future.
